Chapter 2 - The Surprise

As Kristine slowly walks heading home she felt sad for none of her relatives or her best friends remembered her birthday today. Unlike last year they never stopped on saying Happy Birthday to her wherever she go. She continues to walk as she recalls the birthdays she had with her parents. They had given her all kinds of gifts but the most special gift was the last one they had given her before she left for America. It was a bracelet with the word T.E.S.O.R.O or the Italian of treasure which seals the love of her parents into her heart forever.

Kristine was just about to enter the house when suddenly she heard shouts saying Happy Birthday. "I thought you guys forgot", said Kristine with jovial. "Well we thought to have your party a surprise this year" replied by Faye and Edwin her two best friends. "Well thank you guys anyway including you Aunt Lisa", said Kristine as continuing to enjoy herself for the party they prepared for her. "Kristine that reminds me what we are going to do tomorrow" asked Faye. "Well we can go bowling, biking, watch a movie......" Edwin suggested as he continued on giving ideas. "Or we can just go in the park and have a picnic” interrupted by her aunt. "Well that's fine for me" replied Kristine and Faye. Then with Edwin left with no choices has said Ok even though he had a lot of things to do than just have a picnic. "But promise me that after this picnic we go and watch a movie" said Edwin hoping. With any hesitation the two girls quickly replied yes and went back to the party. Edwin secretly after making sure that Kristine wasn't looking, quietly went into Kristine's room and placed his present for her in the table so before she gets any sleep she'll find the greatest gift a friend could give. Edwin thought about the present he bought and had a looked before placing it near her diary. Then quietly went back to the party to get some refreshments.

Chapter 1- The Announcement

Kristine woke up from her dreams. Her clock beside her bed told her that it was 4:30 a.m. She got out of bed yawning and went to the bathroom and started fixing herself for school. "Kristine! Kristine! Are you already awake?" asked her aunt. "Yes! I'm already awake" replied Kristine. "Okay just be finished before 5:00 or else you'll get late and start to forget things again" her aunt joked around. "You might forget some things again and I don't want to see you running back home to find out you left your notebook, shoe or anything" her aunt added. "Ok! Ok! I'll hurry up" Kristine replied back. After a few minutes she got out and dressed quickly and made herself neat.

"Aunt Lisa, I'm going out now to school" Kristine said as she went out of the gate. Kristine now walks out to her school which is just three blocks from her new home. She now lives with her Aunt Lisa's family. She is now being taken care of her Aunt Lisa after her parents die in China fighting for their country when China was being slowly controlled by the communists.

"Kristine! Look where you're going." Kristine was surprised to see Faye in front of her. "Hey are you yourself now?" asked Faye. "Yeah! I'm just thinking about my parents again" answered Kristine. "Well you've got to get back to yourself before our class starts and look over there were nearly late" Faye laughed out as they started running towards their last class. "Okay class. Our school had decided to have your exposure trips next week" the teacher said. The class shouted for joy in union, "No classes next week!" "Okay settle down for a while and hear the rest of the details" the teacher interrupted. "We are going to the Home of the Poor, there we will be able to realize more the people in our society" the teacher added. Then the bell ringed the time the students went home.

Prologue

In the far side of the airport's departure area stands the Manor family. After a few minutes the Manor family said goodbye to each other and the child hugged her parents very much before going to the plane and waving their last goodbyes forever, for this will be the last time they will ever meet again.
